Palm Beach already has an impressive performing arts community, and now it's adding another member to the list. The Naked Stage will be moving to a 6,500 square foot space in downtown West Palm Beach on Clematis St. And no, there is no nudity. The name is based on the idea that artists create live theater on a bare canvas which is the empty stage. The founders are Carbonell Award-nominated actress Katherine Amadeo, Carbonell-winning actor Antonio Amadeo, and John Manzelli. Collectively, they've been involved in Barry University's Pelican Theatre in Miami, the 24-Hour Theatre Project, and City Theatre. Renovations on the new space will take as long as a year. After opening, they plan to have six shows a season—two of which will be geared toward a younger crowd. This is a particularly smart move, as it's important to encourage a love of live performances early on. Visit nakedstage.org for more information.
